Megamind Teaser

It seems to be that 3D animated movies based in villains as protagonists are becoming a new trend since Despicable Me. They only put a villain with a weird personality and some dump henchmen, which is a simple bet to generate cheap humor that attracts the masses.

In my opinion, Despicable Me is just a waste of time, but I really like the story and characters from Megamind, which really looks like a good bet to make a comedy from villains (without looking similar to The Incredibles). Megamind is an egocentric villain, coquettish, with a big brain and a Na’vi Blue skin. The best part is that his hinchman is a fish that lives in a fishbowl which is the head of a robotic body. With only this my ticket is already bought.

Megamind: I make bad look so good.

The only thing that seems to be wrong, Megamind’s voice is played by Will Ferrell. I am not a big fan of Ferrell at all (I think almost all of his movies are garbage) but the voice in the teaser sounds VERY WELL DONE, I even hear some Scottish accent, this is a pro voice work. The first time that I watched the teaser I didn’t recognized the voice, Ferrell has done an amazing job, I think, based on this, he should dedicate the rest of his career as a voice actor and never return to the big screen. Oh yes.

But he is not alone, the are other recognized actors for the rest of the voices:

  • Brad Pitt as Metro Man
  • Will Ferrell as Megamind
  • Tina Fey as Roxanne Ritchi
  • Jonah Hill as Titan

Director: Tom McGrath (Madagascar, Monsters Vs Aliens) THIS IS PERFECT
Release Date: 5 November 2010

Plot

[Spoilers]

After super-villain Megamind (Will Ferrell) kills his good-guy nemesis, Metro Man (Brad Pitt), he becomes bored since there is no one left to fight. He creates a new foe, Titan (Jonah Hill), who, instead of using his powers for good, sets out to destroy the world, positioning Megamind to save the day for the first time in his life.

From Oobermind to Megamind

Dreamworks has taken the right decisions changing the previous movie title: Oobermind to Megamind, and they have also changed the horrible logo created for Oobermind, to a new modern metallic logo full of thunders. In the first poster we can see a white Superman as the good guy, maybe he will be Metro Man.
